Battery arrived as promised easy to order

Easy to find what I wanted on their website, cheaper than I saw elsewhere too. Would've been next day delivery but the courier had an issue, it turned up within 48 hours though so still good!

Like several other customers who have left reviews my compatible Dyson V8 battery failed when just out of guarantee.

I called and spoke to one of their technicians today about the issue. I wasn’t asked my name or my order number which surprised me. He seemed to have a lot of stock answers which ranged from, running the vacuum cleaner on max too often, the charger being faulty, through to filters not being cleaned or replaced frequently. A faulty battery didn’t seem to be a possibility at all. I indicated very politely but firmly that I was disappointed by this and asked if that was the end of my options, at which point I was accused of rudeness and the call was terminated by the technician.

I was quite shocked by this as I hadn’t been rude in any way. I used to be Head of Customer Service for a national company here in the UK before starting my own business. I would always encourage my staff to see things from the customer perspective. Putting the phone down on a customer is never helpful and shows contempt rather than empathy.

Following my call I decided to contact Dyson Technical Support and put to them the reasons for battery failure Sussex Battery Centre had given me. They told me categorically that chargers rarely contribute to battery failure and filters do not need replacing regularly just washing out monthly which I always do. Importantly they cannot cause a battery to fail as the machine goes to ‘pulse mode’ as soon as it senses an issue with the filter. Above all I noted that Dyson were courteous throughout the call and considerably more professional.

I would urge anyone thinking of buying a copy Dyson Battery from this company to read the negative reviews here first, but particularly to note the responses from Sussex Battery Shop. You’ll see that not once do they see the customer’s side of things and give them the benefit of the doubt. This speaks volumes.

Genuine Dyson batteries are only marginally more expensive and importantly Dyson customer service is also excellent.

I’ve learned a valuable lesson today.

Update: Reading my review again today I see that my intuition was correct. This company has ceased trading and taken a lot of people's hard earned money with them. It goes to show that it's always worth reading the one star reviews even for those companies who look good at first glance.
