It should be a ZERO star

It should be a ZERO star, really. The BA and Avios e-store is practically a scam. No matter how precise and careful you are in following all the rules in order to make a purchase to earn Avios, no matter what, they will NEVER honour it. The time and efforts needed to follow up, complain, email, send and re-send documents, are just a waste of your time and efforts. Just terrible!!

Avios has taken hundreds of pounds from me over the years, but because of account activity for 36 months I have lost all my Avios, 67,000 in total. I now understand that this is stated in terms and conditions, but how can it be right legally or morally to do this? They have taken my money and I get nothing in return. This is nothing more than theft.

No contact available for customers. Trying to boost my avios and my card keeps getting declined, spoke to my bank they dont even see a declined transaction. Had purchased a few travel experiences last year never got the avios - they were pending and then disappeared; bought through Dyson website recently still waiting for my avios cause they cant see payment type - considering its their system they should be the ones to handle this since Dyson doesnt add payment type on the receipts. As soon as i spend the avios i have im no longer using this membership. it seems avios is getting paid by retailers and not depositing the avios on the customers accounts and since there is poor customer service contact nothing we can do.

Unbelievably difficult to spend points

Unbelievably difficult to spend points. I've wasted days trying to spend 11,000 points on anything. Years ago I stopped bothering to use them on flights because there was never anything available but now I can't even transfer them into nectar points. Sales prevention for BA, I commuted from Scotland to London every week for years and the Avios experience pushed me to become an Easyjet frequent flyer. I'm having to give up those remaining 11,000 miles because they're un usable

Goal for 2025: Quit Avios & BA

My goal this year is to spend all my Avios points and stop accumulating more. This company + BA are a joke. Site is constantly down. Even when not down, reward flights are so limited. Top tip for all: BA + Avios are getting so complacent with their service being the main provider in the UK, please boycott this company and move to their competitors. A few hundred pounds more negates the need to deal with a company that is hardly accessible to their customers

Avios help and support

I have been trying to link a BA account with another in order to use Avios. The Avios page says you can link your accounts HERE and then takes you to an error page. There is no phone number. You just go around in circles. It seems to be a dystopian hell and it's put me off the whole idea of Avios completely. Why not a helpline?

The most appalling company (apart from BT)

I wanted to book a flight to Edinburgh with Loganair (an Avios partner). I went onto their site and was instructed to transfer my points over from Avios. I logged into Avios and successfully linked to Loganair. During this process I had to input a security code approximately 6 times after which I was automatically locked out for a couple of hours before it would generate another code! I then tried to transfer my Avios. I tried on my phone, laptop, desktop to no avail. I then tried the virtual assistant - what a joke! After 3 or 4 tries on the phone I worked out how to lie to the system to I actually got to speak to a human being. She was very helpful and told me that indeed the system was not working and that it had been reported. Try in a few days was the advice. I tried yesterday and found that I had been locked out of Avios due to suspicious activity! I had to spent another couple of hours getting through on the phone and was assured that it would be sorted but it would take 72 hours! Really??? I have now been trying to book my ticket to Edinburgh for 10 days. This is just terrible service. I am going to concentrate on collecting Virgin points now as the idea of dealing with Avios in the future is too much to bear.

Don’t book Airbnb using the eshop.

I have collected Avios for many years and have spent lots of time chasing Avios for missing points and after months of chasing they usually were paid. However recently booked a number of Airbnb via the BA shop and they have decided that I didn’t book them via Avios. The BA systems are old and not fit for purpose I no longer use the eshop for purchases I use Topcashback as they are not as bad as Avios and just collect Avios from my credit card to get the 241 voucher.

Absolute waste of time

Absolute waste of time. It’s a full time job making sure / chasing up points which inevitably get cancelled on the BA shopping site. Don’t bother. Too stressful.

I've waited nearly a year for 4,290…

I've waited nearly a year for 4,290 points to be added to my Avios account after booking two hotel rooms at Malmaison (via Avios) in June 2024. This morning I received an email from Avios to say that the purchase was not eligible to earn points and a whole host of flimsy reasons why. If the likelihood of receiving points is so tenuous I don't see the point.

shocking programme with awful systems

have had Avios for many years and started buying online via webpage app last year with some ok results, but often have other chase. booked 2 separate days accommodation in January for start finish of property rental down in France for August. points awarded, all fine. mail today, points cancelled, "not eligible.. BUT worst example was bought new Apple MacBook in January via Avios on 5 x points = c 14000 avios. Nothing showing, submitted claim, no response. phoned- "can't see the "click" to webpage. despite fact I have screen grabs of visit logged and 5x points. still investigating in May. shocking service and make rules up as they go. should be investigated

Unbelievable that this is not illegal. Having gathered over half a million BA points - not a single European flight available within 6 weeks of my dates, not one. I guess all airline schemes are a similar scam but I'll avoid BA from now on.

Accidentally transferred all my points…

Accidentally transferred all my points to Nectar. Customer Experience on Live Chat beyond incompetent. First assistant just pretended they couldnt read my messages and the second gave me less than a second to reply before cutting off. Didnt bother to understand my issue - but reading these reviews perhaps my points are better in Nectar.

Avoid Avios at all costs

Avoid booking through Avios at all costs! They lack basic empathy and human skills and have very poor customer service. We booked the wrong non-refundable hotel by mistake (didn't have facility we wanted) and explained the situation and why it was for a special occasion for pregnant woman on her birthday and asked whether they can ask the hotel to refund or we can get a credit voucher etc and the customer service didn't budge nor care. So greedy and 0 empathy skills.
It is best to use another platform to book holidays.
