I rated the sound quality of the headphones very highly (x65) but the experience has been totally spoiled by the poor quality of the ear pad fabric which wore out very quickly (others have reported this too). It's very expensive to replace and I'm not confident about doing it. What a shame.
I bought the austrian audio Hi-x55 headphones. They are marketed as sturdy professional headphones. In reality the plastic plates on both sides of the phones broke within a few weeks, which makes the cups come loose. I have contacted Austrian audio twice and don't get replacement parts. This is definitely a design failure which they don't take responsibility for. In the meantime the ear cushions are totally worn out. Much faster than on any headphone I ever used. Check internet, my case is definitely not unique.
Austrian Audio Hi-X55 headphones are not worth purchasing. They are expensive junk.
We have returned this product to Austrian Audio three (3) times with the help of the people that sold them to us. In each case the product was broken again within 6 months of repair.
In addition to breaking down regularly, the ear cups are of poor quality and do not last long. Of course Austrian Audio did not bother to replace them while repairing the other problems.
Caveat emptor.
Tested their headphones: The Hi-X60 and Hi-X65 (preferred them over the X55) are great headphones and easily among the best options. The X15 has a decent sound for its price.
I purchased a pair of Austrian Audio headphones and registered them for warranty. Within three weeks of purchase and after less than an hour of use, the earpads became unglued on one side. I have reported this through their website and weeks have gone by with no reply. These are not inexpensive headphones.
Non-existent customer service.
Best avoided in my opinion.
