I was contacted by phone from Atlas about consolidating my student loans. Within a week of initiating the process, I asked to cancel the loan consolidation after determining that this wasn’t the best financial move at the moment, but received no response from Atlas.

Atlas’ third party bill collector (a different company) reached out to confirm my info to start charging me, but I told them I wanted to cancel. They instructed me to contact Atlas.

I was contacted by an Atlas representative who convinced me that it was “too late” in the process to reverse anything. I told them I have a bad feeling this is a predatory scheme.

The following week the same Atlas representative called again, but this time with a completely different tone. They were hostile, interrogative and made unprofessional assumptions about my income. I continued letting them know I wanted to cancel the process in a calm and cool manner, but they persisted in pressuring me by repeating, “it’s too late,” “you’re still on the hook,” “we can’t cancel it.” I told them that they sounded very upset and that we should talk about it again later when they’re calm.

The following morning I called the loan service provider (a completely different company) that Atlas gave my loans to consolidate and canceled the entire process within a short phone call.

I then called my current loan service to check if anything had changed on their end, and they confirmed I was fine and filed an incident report on Atlas to the US Dept. of Education.

Fearing that Atlas may still try to collect my payment, I called the third party bill collector to have them remove my information from their system, to which they said I wasn’t even completely registered yet, so no action was necessary.

After, I called the aforementioned Atlas representative to let them know everything was canceled & left them a voicemail. I then called back and got a receptionist who told me the Atlas representative was busy. I then asked if I can speak to two other associates that had worked my case and they too were busy and couldn’t take my call. I then asked if she can just pass me to anyone that can help, so she transferred me to another Atlas representative.

This Atlas representative informed me at this moment that my loan consolidation process had been canceled 3 days prior. I then asked that if this was the case then why has the other Atlas representative been calling and pressuring me to continue the process. This Atlas representative said something along the lines of, “I don’t work with them directly, but I’ve heard alot of bad stories about them.” (A simple google search will confirm these two representatives share similar roles at Atlas, how do they not know each other?)

This Atlas representative sent me an email confirmation about the cancellation of my loan consolidation.

Nate is fairly approachable and provided the answers to my questions as well as provided the resources needed regarding my situation. As a first gen student making my way around the college experience and adulting, Nate remained patient and provided guidance.

Miss Sanchez showed so much professionalism, took her time to explain it all, listened to my concerns and was willing to explain it all to me.

Nate was extremely knowledgeable about the various programs and patient with explaining the process for applying and what the process looks like after acceptance into a program. He not only was able to answer all of the questions I had but provided the information for other questions that he has been commonly asked and concerns that had been brought up to him by other clients. Nate was extremely professional and personable; he made what could have been an annoying solicitation call turn into an optimistic new account and client!

He was kind and gave me good direction. I look forward to working with him in the future.

My representative was Dylan his customer service is impeccable. He explained details in a thorough manner. I was very pleased with the payment plan and goals we set for loan forgiveness. Going forward I hope the process goes as well as this interaction.🤞🏽😊

Jacob was a very nice associate. He was detailed in explaining all the steps and details about the process. As well as explaining in detail any questions I had.

I almost did not take the call due to scams.
I answered the phone and was about to say No Thank You, but the young lady on the phone asked the questions very courteously and quickly. Before I knew I, was talking to Jacob. He explained the program to me, and although at the time leery, felt reassured after receiving the text he sent from FSA and the email confirming his identity. He found me a program that I would have never thought would allow me to pay back my student loans at a time like this. Phenomenal young man did a phenomenal job, and did not waste my time in the process. Quick and highly efficient. I definitely recommend.
