We had tried working with two previous trainers - one of which told us to return our anxious dog to the shelter. Our rescue dog is great with our kids but loves to escape, had initiated fights with our senior dog, and had a lot of other issues I couldn't figure out how to solve. Julie patiently worked through every one of them! While our dog isn't perfect, after six weeks of training she's significantly improved her behavior and Julie gave me the tools to continue working with her and improving her behavior further. Definitely recommend!

Julie was excellent. Always on time. Always prepared and very patient with our puppy Bailey.

We really enjoyed our training with Julie! She worked with our toy poodle puppy who was so infatuated with her. After each lesson she would email us a summary of that days lesson along with what to work on until the following week. I could message her in between sessions if we had any questions and she always responded quickly. Julie made us feel very comfortable and explained in detail each session. Overall it was a great experience and hope to have her help us in the future!

Our vet recommended Julie with the adoption of our Catahoula pup. We began our lessons with Julie when he crossed a year and I only wished I reached out sooner. Our Loki suffers from fear anxiety, paired with some owner detachment. We needed to better understand how to deal with his emotions and personality, as well as help him understand better behavior so we all could win. Julie helped guide us with the knowledge and tools we needed to do just that. Week over week, we saw a positive increase in his confidence as well as manners. We were able to achieve a positive experience at the vets, as well as have a successful overnight boarding session. We will miss Julie, and know that Loki will too. He loved his sessions in trying to please!

Julie is such an amazing dog trainer. She helped us with our three year old pittie mix Max who was getting frustrated with other dogs on walks. She was so good with figuring out his behavior areas that needed work and taught me games and tricks that Max absolutely loved but at the same time was teaching him things. I would highly recommend Julie - in fact I know Max really misses our weekly sessions with her! 🐶

Recommended to Julie from our vet for our new collie puppy who is full of energy. Our pup just loved her. All of her training is very positive and since our pup is very food motivated--She was a big hit with him. Julie is very patient and knowledgeable. She emails you after every session so you can practice at home. I highly recommend Julie at ATG for all of your dog training needs.

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Ahead of the Game Dog Training (ATG). My two year old Frenchie, Odie, and I had the privilege of working with Julie. I had recently adopted Odie. After a few weeks, he began to demonstrate aggressive behavior as a reaction to certain situations or noises.

My dog and I were blessed to find Julie. She is skilled, perceptive, and dedicated to her trade. My dog had a long history of neglect/abuse. He presented big challenges, but Julie was influential in helping us make great strides.
I love her approach to training. It is all about positive reinforcement, with activities designed to bring out the dog's best choices. There are no shock collars or top down control techniques. Everything is designed to help your dog become a happy and well adjusted animal.
My dog was 5 years in to fearful and maladjusted coping mechanisms when I rescued him, so we continue to use the training strategies we learned through Julie. We have made incredible progress, but we have a longer road to travel than most.

Julie is absolutely amazing. My lab puppy had really bad reactivity issues (I couldn’t even walk her in my front yard without her going off). Now she is so comfortable and even excited to go on walks and meet new people/things. Julie has made a huge impact on her and has made my puppy love training. We love that she doesn’t use any aversive tools so my baby genuinely feels excited and happy to complete tasks and do a good job in training! Couldn’t recommend this enough. Our vet recommended Julie. Working with her has been a breath of fresh air. Our 1.5 year old Violet is a English Shepherd. She is very smart and has all her obedience training pretty mastered. However she suffers from anxiety and this makes her fearful of many things. Julie has given us so many tools to help with this. She was beyond patient and sweet to our Violet. She focuses on positive reinforcement. Not only has Violet benefited from her training but we have as well. While she is doing her training she also explains why she is doing it and the purpose. She is so very thorough not just when shes with Violet but her follow up emails are amazing as well! In the last 6 weeks Violet has barked less at situations she would of normally. She is no longer terrified of the doorbell. Her leash pulling has improved tremendously! We will continue to work hard with Violet with all the tools Julie has taught us. She has been a true lifesaver!

Julie was fantastic with our golden retriever, Pearl! Our vet recommended her for new puppy training, and we are very happy with the results. Julie is great with communication, and is professional as well as personable. She was very sweet and patient with Pearl (and us humans!) during the training. She took the time to explain the why behind the training, which was very helpful. We are so grateful to Julie for her training and support!

Julie is fantastic! We adopted a 2yr old rescue and needed help with training because Izzy is so much different than our other rescue, Marlee. Training with Julie helped us bond with Izzy and learn what Izzy’s needs are along with giving Izzy the ability to feel more confident in her new surroundings. Julie is amazing. I would highly recommend her. She is very patient and always answers all my questions during the sessions. Most of the days the training has gone beyond the 1 hour mark but she was kind enough to stay and explain all the doubts we had as first time dog owners. Our puppy is doing really well after her training and she helped us solve a lot of problems we had related to separation anxiety, recall and leash pulling. She is very professional and my puppy absolutely loves her.

I was amazed at how responsive Milo was to positive training techniques used by Julie. Milo was afraid of strangers and reacted by barking and lunging, Now he will ignore strangers, we are still working on ignoring other dogs. I highly recommend Julie for positive dog training.

We had a great experience with Ahead of the Game Dog Training! We have a one year old boxer that was persistent about specific bad habits that we could not break her from. Julie came in once a week for several weeks and we saw an instant change in Macie's behavior. We have had several boxers, but couldn't get this puppy to break certain bad habits. I would recommend ATG to anyone needing an experienced trainer.

Julie is wonderful. She gives you loads of information to help with your training and always zeros in on your specific needs. I can't recommend her enough for anyone needing help with their dog! If we need help in the future with our Lumi Frost, she is the one I will contact. Talk to her, you won't be sorry!

I cannot say enough about Julie and her company. She was amazing with my dog, Auggie, who brought him out of his shell and gave him the confidence to interact with the outside world.
