I’d give zero stars if I could..

I’d give zero stars if it was an option…

***see edit below. I added one star for what appears to be a quality product with abysmal communication and follow through

We started the process with Astrawatt Solar (of Kansas City? Of St. Louis? I’m still unclear about which office we officially worked with because they passed us back and forth so many times) in March 2025. The installation was scheduled for the end of May 2025, got moved to the end of June because of the STL tornado and Ameren availability. In June 2025, 2 electricians from KC worked on my house for 2 days, couldn’t complete their portion allegedly because Ameren didn’t show up, and went back to KC. A full month later, in July, a local crew showed up and worked for 4 days. At the end of that week the solar panels were installed on my roof, the Powerwall battery was attached to my basement wall, and everything appeared to be in place. However, the system failed final electrical inspections with the county on 7/18/25, 8/1/25 and 8/25/25. As the electrician who met the inspectors was leaving my house, he said the company needed to regroup after so many failed inspections and go over everything carefully so it would pass next time. He tried to blame STL county saying the inspectors kept coming up with new things that were wrong. That was the last time I saw anyone from Astrawatt.

The day before the final inspection, they sent me a second “payment due” notice on the final payment with a message that said they were unable to submit everything to Ameren until it was paid in full, so I submitted the payment. That was a huge mistake on my part.

After many emails and attempts to contact Astrawatt and get a timeline for completion, they stopped responding in late September 2025. At the beginning of November, I got a broadcast email from Alexander Roach saying a franchisee was taking over their existing projects and that everything would be completed by the end of 2025. I’ve emailed and called numerous times since then looking for information, but Astrawatt has disappeared.

I paid the company $31,000 with the understanding (they sent me the tax credit forms after final payment) that I would receive $9400 in tax credit back when I file my 2025 taxes. But if the system isn’t fully operational (and Ameren has to issue a “right to operate” once it passes final electrical inspection) by 12/31/25, we lose the tax credit option.

We are now in the process of trying to find an electrician who will finish the job so that we can submit for the tax credit, but today is 12/12/25 and time is running out.

In summary, I paid $31,000 for a non operational solar panel system from Astrawatt Solar. Once I find a way to get it working (at additional expense), I will likely have to deal with a legal battle to recoup my additional expense and possibly the tax credit amount they prevented me from qualifying for. The stress and headache caused by this shady company cannot be overstated. Run far, far away.

**edit-about 2 weeks ago Astrawatt resurfaced out of the blue after months of absence and stated they “became aware” of my unfinished project with STL County disabled their ability to pull permits and schedule inspections. Someone showed up the next day and finished the project. It passed final inspection on 12/29 and is operational in time for us to qualify for the tax credit. While the product appears solid, I still do not trust this company and would not recommend them.

1-Star Review

1-Star Review: My Experience With Astrawatt Solar

I'm a big supporter of solar energy, and I still recommend going solar -- just not with Astrawatt.

I signed a contract with Astrawatt in late 2024 to install solar panels and a Tesla Powerwall. Unfortunately, I ran into issues at almost every stage: communication delays, product availability problems, installation mistakes, and poor coordination with Evergy.

Astrawatt provided projected energy-savings estimates as part of their proposal. After six months, I noticed no change in my energy bill. I reached out to multiple people at the company, including my sales rep, Rhody, and the owner, Alex. A technician finally came out and discovered that my system's energy-export capability had never been enabled. Once they turned it on, the system began performing as promised.

However, during those first six months, my system was capped and unable to produce the savings it should have. Alex acknowledged the mistake and even calculated the energy production I missed, telling me I would be reimbursed within days. Two months later, after many follow-ups, communication from Alex, Rhody, and others at Astrawatt has stopped.

Based on my experience, the company has not taken responsibility for the error or followed through on what they told me. I truly wish I had chosen a different installer, and I recommend anyone considering Astrawatt think carefully before signing a contract.

Astrawatt Austin is highly recommended!!!!!

I don't know about the other locations Astrawatt is in, but Astrawatt in Austin, TX is phenomenal!! They go above and beyond!! We got quotes from 6 different solar companies and are sooooo glad we decided to go with Astrawatt!! We had a pretty complicated install and it's nice to know the head tech is an engineer. Highly recommended!!!

Misleading Sales, Incomplete Installation, and Questionable Business Practices

I strongly advise avoiding AstraWatt Solar. I signed a $105,000 contract for a full-property solar backup system, including two Tesla Powerwall 3s, a SPAN panel, and support for a 400-amp service. What I received instead was a split 200-amp system, only one battery connected to SPAN.

In addition to receiving a system install that was NOT what I originally signed up for the process took 5 months that were filled with myself managing their project, arguing with their owners who blamed me for their errors and additional errors that cost me time and money.

Very disappointed overall, don't trust them

Astrawatt of Mahopac, NY (which is somehow related to or part of County Comfort, or maybe vice versa) performed an install of my solar panels in 2023. I've been waiting to write this review until I got through the full process. (I'm writing this in paragraphs, but in case it gets compressed I'm putting in "~~~" to indicate breaks.)
~~~
They were nice enough to deal with, but the job took far longer than it should have. The contract specified 2 months from signature to completion, with install taking 3 days, but in reality this wasn't even close to correct. Promised completion date in the contract was Nov 8, 2023, but the system wasn't installed and functional until mid-December and wasn't switched on until January 2024.
~~~
The original design had some major mistakes that I flagged to the designer – panels facing west were put in the system as facing north, which significantly reduced their estimated output. (I'm not a solar engineer. Why was I the one to find their errors?) I assumed this was just a simple mistake, but given the production guarantee I'll talk about at the end, I now wonder whether this was intentional.
~~~
The initial measurements of my roof and joists were wrong, resulting in delivery of the materials on schedule but inability to install them. I lost use of my garage for 4 weeks while I waited for them to correct the designs and start the installation.
~~~
Communications throughout were terrible. I continually had to follow up to find out whether people were coming as scheduled, and had to rearrange my schedule multiple times to accommodate when they showed up without notice. There was one Saturday well after the promised completion date when a single electrician showed up to work on the circuit panel, and I needed to help him for two hours by calling out which circuits he was turning off and on. (Yes, I could have said just come back with another worker another day, but I wanted to get the damn project done.)
~~~
Installation looks good overall, but I keep finding little pieces of the install on my grass – plastic caps, the wires that hold the critter guards in place. I've started to wonder when I'll start finding larger pieces, and whether their 25 year guarantee will actually be a reality.
~~~
To their credit, Joe did agree to a price reduction given all the problems I listed above, and they installed an extra (older) panel for free to try to increase production. Joe also sent me a car charger extension cable for the time I couldn't use my garage. And their workers were pleasant and professional.
~~~
But finally, estimated production was 14% higher than what their panels actually produced last year – a difference of about 2300 kWh, which is pretty significant. The Astrawatt contract specifies a production guarantee: if production falls below 90% of the estimate in any given year, they will reimburse the value of energy below 90%. Production the first year was about 86% of estimated, so I asked for the reimbursement and calculated the amount they should reimburse at $241. They acknowledged they'd failed to meet the estimate, but then stopped responding and have not sent a check. I had to take this to the BBB and the state Attorney General. Still no resolution and today the BBB told me they've not replied to the complaint. It's been months since Keith or Joe have replied to my messages.
~~~
I am happy to have a solar panel system in place, but I am massively dissatisfied with the experience of working with County Comfort / Astrawatt. I assume I'll need to make a claim yearly to collect their contractual obligation, and I assume they'll be equally defiant every year, and I assume I'll have to continue wasting my time to collect.
~~~
So: I would STRONGLY recommend against trusting this company with your solar install.
Smart folks with meh prices and crappy service
Oh where to begin. I’d say on a whole, their price was about the same as other quotes I got and the equipment was pretty much the same. Sales staff, engineering staff, and installers were all very knowledgeable.
Their organization SUCKS though. I got my quote in August and the system wasn’t turned on until FEBRUARY. Communication was non existent about what was happening and when or when my family would be without power. Installers treated my home like a job site and left things feeling unfinished; I took 5 contractor bags of trash to the dump myself and had to finish burying the last 12ft of cable myself.  Because there is no system of quality checks or accountability in the org, no one has checked on the final product or how my system is working out.
If they aren’t cheaper than the other guys, and they are putting in about the same equipment, the only thing that differentiates one solar org from another is their service.  In end, I wish I had chosen a different company and saved myself the headaches.  I cannot recommend this place.
Not sure what went wrong, contact missing in action!
Reid was very helpful when we installed our solar a year or so ago. Called to talk about adding Batteries. I prefer an in person appointment but was scheduled for an on line appointment. That appointment was forgotten the Reid called back and said he would send a proposal based on the information I sent. It’s been 3 weeks without a word. Is there another office I can work with in the Cameron, MO area?
My solar is amazing!
After much research and meeting with many companies, I felt lAstrawatt was the most knowledgeable and informative. The installation was the best and the crew was exceptional - very friendly, polite and courteous. Such a fun project and all that I hoped it would be. This is definitely the company you should choose!!
I interviewed eight different solar…
I interviewed eight different solar installation companies before electing to utilize AstraWatt. AstraWatt wasn't the cheapest, but they also weren't the most expensive. In my experience, AstraWatt offers a highly professional service in a competitive field and I would recommend them to anyone. Solar companies will continue to come and go (ADT Solar just decided to exit the business...they were not high on my list), but I believe that AstraWatt has the right approach and the right product to stick around. Brian B. is an outstanding salesman who provided me with all the information I needed to make a decision. I asked for several different quotes, all of which he provided quickly. Brian is one of the reasons I selected AstraWatt.
Outstanding Experience!
From Day 1, the entire process was well-organized and effectively communicated. From Matt during the initial consultation, to Desmond and Megan throughout the project, to Chris and Adam during installation of the solar system and back-up generator, everyone was very pleasant and extremely professional.
