Moreover the simple and straightforward approach to cases and the practical application behind each and every case is so helpful in understanding how the consultation works. The academy is so well structured and equipped with all the things needed for practice. Dr Aman helps not only with the PLAB journey but also beyond. Such a dedicated mentor he is.

Choosing to attend Arora academy in person for PLAB 2 was the best decision I could have made. They teach you the basic principles of approaching any station in the exam with minimal memorization or rote learning, which is one of the most important things to learn not just for the exam, but for working with real patients in the UK as well (definitely more useful than my entire medical school). It helped me develop more confidence, especially with role-play practices in classes and live feedback from the instructors. Instructors are friendly, passionate, and competent, and will patiently answer any question you have. Feedbacks from role-plays and mocks are tailored, detailed, and comes with constructive suggestions on ways to improve. You can book free practice sessions with the manikins, which are limited to 4 people at any given time, so there’s no issues of overcrowding, and you’re sure to have a productive session.

The mocks provided were not full mocks — only 6 stations each mock, and each person gets 2 mocks. Initially, I was worried that this would not prepare me well for the actual exam, which has 16 stations, but in hindsight, time flew by really quickly on the exam day itself and I didn’t feel at all fatigued (saved by the adrenaline!). So, in retrospect, the mini mocks were good enough for me to get a taster of what it’s going to be like in the exam, and also sufficient for my “examiner” to identify any strengths and weaknesses in my performance to provide quality feedback.

The facilities of the academy itself are modern, clean, and comfortable, with great air-conditioning and fast wifi. The pantry has a mini fridge, cold and hot water dispenser, and espresso machine where you can buy your coffee via contactless payment. During lunch breaks, you can have meals at a small cafe in the same building, or visit a co-op within 5 mins walk.

The only negative thing I could say about it is the location — Solihull is generally a very remote place. If you don’t want to drive or book taxis, the only other transport option is public buses, which can be infrequent (up to 1h intervals) and unreliable (inaccurate bus arrival times on navigation apps).

PSA for anyone out there considering to book the Accommodation Package with Regency Hotel Solihull — The hotel is almost in the middle of nowhere, with only Costa coffee (which closes at 7pm) nearby. It takes 20+ min to walk to the nearest supermarket or restaurant/shop or gym. Bus service in the area is inconvenient, sporadic, and unreliable. The hotel only has one lift, which is almost always out of order, so you’ll end up having to take the stairs anyway (could be a hassle if you’re coming with a big luggage). Even if the lift is working, the architecture is old and weird such that there are 3-4 small steps every 3-5 metres down the corridor. There’s a musty smell from dirty carpets and mouldy walls. There are no kitchen amenities provided in the hotel room except for an electric kettle — not even a fridge or a microwave. If your room is located deeper into the complex (i.e. further away from the reception), internet signal can be poor and unstable (I have to move to a certain spot of the room to get signal). Don’t expect daily room service to leave your room clean (I’ve seen the same piece of paper on the floor the whole week, and the bed sheets felt a little gritty). When I was there, the gym in the hotel was “under maintenance”. The hotel does not have a laundromat, and does not provide any laundry service. A round trip to the nearest self-service laundromat to get 1 load of laundry done took 3h+. The size of a double room with 2 x single beds is half that of a single room with 1 x king bed (IMO this doesn't make sense). The double room I stayed in didn't have a window that can be opened for ventilation (to get rid of the musty smell), but others who stayed in single rooms have windows that can be opened. So, if you need more space and want some ventilation, your best bet is to book a single room.

Having said that, there are some advantages for staying at the hotel — you'll meet others studying at Arora before and during the course, so practising role-plays with one another in person is much easier. The included taxi service to and from the academy for the duration of the course is very convenient. However, in my opinion, for the same price, you’re sure to get a better place to stay elsewhere — especially with limited food options in the area, and if you want to store perishables and cook hot meals.

Overall, I’d still highly recommend attending Arora academy for your PLAB 2 preparation. However, it’s best to find your own accommodation with better amenities and consider your transport options given the location.

Arora Medical is an excellent academy if you are preparing for the PLAB 2. I was very anxious about the exam at first, but after attending the academy, I gained the confidence needed to score a passing grade. I 100% recommend.

The academy is so good, I was so confused and had low self esteem before joining the academy but after taking Arora’s academy it was cleared to me what Plab actually is. Arora and his team was helping and supportive throughout my journey of Plab two and only with their help and dedication I passed Plab two in first go. Key points: take your mock tests seriously. Internalise the 3 bubbles. And practice as much as you can.
Arora Academy is as good as it can get. I should know, I cleared PLAB 2 in my first attempt.

Doing my PLAB 2 prep with Arora academy was a great experience as it was a very positive and supportive environment that gave us all the essential skills we need to pass the PLAB 2 exam. It is important to go through the online material before going to the in person class as it makes your preparation easier and more efficient. There is sufficient time to practice with the mannequins.

Dr Aman arora and team has been by far the most experienced and dedicated mentors and teachers. Unlike other academies, they are fully qualified GP and are highly trained for medical education in the UK. They really know what to teach and how to prepare for the exam. With their invaluable guidance, role plays and hands on practice I have passed UKMLA 2. The academy is focused on only limited number of students in one batch to make sure the highest quality education. You practise station with the simulators who are GPs and trained for medical education and their feedback is very helpful. Three arora buble (redflag, psychosocial and ICE) was the key for my consultation. Their mannequin and SIMMAN is in high quality. In Arora academy you do not memorise script, you learn how to do a consultation as a doctor. All you need to do is follow their method of learning and well enough practise.
Dr Aman Arora, Dr Pooja Arora, Dr Lucas, Dr Nasif and the team has been very kind and humble mentors. I will definitely recommend the academy to anyone preparing for UKMLA 2.

I was struggling with difficult personal circumstances and couldn’t afford any full course package. I bought the flash cards, attended the free AKT day course and watched everything Arora - YouTube, Telegram. I had a lot going on and so I needed Arora’s clear, concise, focused, quick fire approach - Arora gets to the point and hits the spot!

I had a very good experience at Arora academy .All the mentors were friendly and helpful, creating a positive and supportive environment. They guided me correctly at every step and provided mock tests that were extremely beneficial. Each day was energetic, and the classes were excellent. Signing up for Arora's academy was the best decision! I recently passed my PLAB 2 exam, and I found the course helped me a lot in my preparation. I took the Academy+ package, I found Dr Arora's lectures are very helpful to strengthen our structure in approaching various presenting complaints in medicine. After revising them, we get to apply this into practice at the academy (10 days workshops) where we can attempt role-plays and receive valuable feedbacks from experienced tutors and Dr Arora himself.
