Really fun!
I’ve completed two sessions, and they were fun, engaging and definitely a helpful if you’re considering a career in healthcare. The format is really interesting: a ‘shadowing’ session of a specific profession and their work with a patient, and then a teaching session from that same professional expanding on an interesting area in current research for their specialty. It’s definitely an intense day though and you’ll probably find yourself losing focus slightly as time goes on, but it’s so interesting that it’s worth it.

It requires lots of focus but it is great
It was a really helpful talk and a really good idea for students who are aiming to follow a career in this field of work, however ,I found it boring in the sense that one’s share to stay focused for that long. This is particular as it is online and although there are short tasks scheduled in, it is more or less all one big task. There is barely any interaction which will lead a lot of students to just zoning out and not concentrating.

My experience
The experience had a variety of different healthcare professionals involved. When a healthcare professional met with the patient, it felt like a natural progression of the patient’s journey rather than being forced. The simulations seemed believable and realistic which added to the value greatly. Each of the simulations felt useful even if that healthcare profession was not the one I was interested in as it gave an insight into how the other professions linked with the profession I was interested in. It also sparked an interest in other healthcare professions. The teaching sessions, however, were only really useful if you were interested in that particular profession, but this did not detract from my overall enjoyment as there were not many of them. The guest speaker was thoroughly enjoyable but not well advertised whatsoever and once you had logged in, there was contradictory information as to when the session started. I would certainly suggest this experience as a must for anyone who wants to become involved in the healthcare unit. One of the most insightful experiences I have had in a while.

It's very beneficial for anybody wishing to pursue a career in medicine
It was very in depth and helps those who want to do medicine but aren't completely sure which field to do yet it walks through every step the doctors take on each patients case

Interactive and highly beneficial
The experience was highly useful as instead of just being given a lecture, we were given the opportunity to follow two patients throughout recovery process making the work experience both informative and interesting.
Being able to ask questions throughout also meant any questions could be easily answered.
However, the breaks were quite short especially considering the amount of information being given.

I expected for the work experience to…
I expected for the work experience to just be maybe like a few people talking to us for 8 hours straight but was pleasantly surprised when not only could we interact with them by asking questions with them actually attempting to answer all of them for us, but they also simulated what different professionals did in their job for us to get a better insight and understanding of how their days are like, which I really enjoyed watching as it also helped me understand better by getting a visual version of their explanation too.

I learnt a lot from the day
I learnt a lot from the day, it includes a wide variety of healthcare professionals and there is a very useful Q&A bar on the side to ask any questions.
The process to enrol and log in was incredibly confusing and the sound on the recording was quite quiet (while having the volume on my computer at full). Overall, a very useful experience with a certificate great for adding to UCAS applications

Overall is good - recommend
Very informative and in depth. Interesting to see the perspective and involvement of so many different health professionals in treating one case.
It is very lengthy though, sometimes some bits feel unnecessary. Log In is also very time consuming, as sometimes the Log In details aren't accepted.
