Excellent service from start to finish. Our sale should have been straight forward, but there were a few glitches beyond our control which staff at Alexander Lewis managed for us, reducing our stress levels, and ensuring that the sale and purchase did go through. All staff went above and beyond, whilst reassuring us when we thought we might not get there. All staff are super-friendly and approachable and I would have no hesitation in recommending Alexander Lewis Estate Agents.

Professional, friendly and genuine, looking after their client. I had some bad experiences with other estate agents. It was so nice to feel I could contact them and not feel I was a hindrance. They know their clients and the area and found a buyer within days. Thank you to Ellie and Sarah for their help.

Not living locally - Letchworth is a 6hr round trip for us - and with a trying 12 months dealing with Probate and Powers of Attorney, Sarah was a great help and dealt with the situation sensitively. She assisted us in recommending a super gardener and holding keys for house clearance etc. The sale ran alongside the Probate and the team at Alexander Lewis kept us well informed of the many viewings and subsequent offers. The house went under offer within about a week of being marketed and Exchange and Completion happened very quickly after the Grant of Probate was received.
We felt that Alexander Lewis were very much ‘on our side’ throughout and we are very grateful to them for an efficient, smooth transaction, with no stress to us.

The way Alexander Lewis Estates is run should not be allowed.

We viewed a property with Alexander Lewis Estates on the 8th April this year and within half an hour, made an offer “on the basis that the property was removed from sale and no more viewings would take place”. Our offer was accepted a day later on the 9th April, at which point Alexander Lewis began pressuring us to get solicitors in place to ensure the transaction happened as quickly as possible, which we were more than happy to accommodate.

However, despite having instructed and paid for solicitors and spent nearly two weeks working towards a swift transaction taking place, we were told on the 22nd April that the sellers had now accepted a different offer. We were told by Glenn at Alexander Lewis Estates that we could make a higher offer if we wanted, but that there was nothing else that they could do, as they hadn’t still been marketing the property, hadn’t arranged any further viewings and that there had been no wrongdoing on their part because they are legally bound to pass all offers onto the sellers.

This was however proven incorrect when we visited the sellers directly to ask what had happened. We were advised by the sellers that even after our offer was accepted, further viewings DID take place - arranged by Alexander Lewis, and that they were encouraged to accept the new offer which was higher than ours. Looking back, Alexander Lewis were always keen to only speak with us over the phone and didn’t provide any written communication to say our offer had been accepted (which from my new understanding is common practise) - we now know why!

After speaking with the sellers and hearing the true version of events, we challenged Glenn at Alexander Lewis Estates again who still denied any wrongdoing. They did however agree to pay us back the money owed from lost solicitors fees. I won’t accept any money from them out of principle, but this to me at least firmly proves that Glenn admits there was wrongdoing.
