Well planned events, poor housing conditions

My employers guilt tripped, body shamed, and were overall rude throughout the whole duration. For work done incorrectly (because of poor instructions) we were criticized, but for work done well there was zero acknowledgment

My program coordinators were lovely and I had a smooth experience since they all were very helpful at every point in time

I loved getting to go abroad and it will be something that I will remember forever. I would say that the housing was really over priced for the services that they gave us because we had poor wifi and a broken shower for weeks. I wish it came with a fan.

It was nice to have organized events and language school.

AIFS in Barcelona really felt like a 'luxury' study abroad experience. The team is kind, organized, and thoughtful. The excursions are frequent, unique, and very well planned. I was not expecting much from the program, and was honestly thinking it would prove to be a waste of money in terms of being overpriced and overhyped. But I genuinely felt that the price was fair and reflects an honest price tag of what the program is worth, especially after planning my own trip to Europe separately.

You get access to a great team of professors at a very nice university M-F to learn Spanish, meals twice a day cooked by locals (if you do a homestay, which is def the way to go), great excursions outside of the city and within, and a very kind and organized staff who genuinely want to connect with you and take care of you. In summary, my expectations were exceeded and my doubts about the program were cleared after an amazing month in Barcelona.

I had a great time in Australia and AIFS made the whole process very easy. Everything was communicated very clearly and it was easy to reach out whenever I had questions. The organised events were a lot of fun and I would definitely recommend AIFS to any student looking for an ooportunity to go abroad.

It was a whirlwind of an experience that I made sure never had a boring moment

AIFS was extremely organized and checks in with every student to make sure they are on-task and have all the necessary forms. I felt fully supported every step of the way. I studied abroad in Florence and needed some advice in regards to communicating with my supervisor. One of my advisors, Cassidy Fickes, personally met me for coffee to help resolve the situation and checked in to make sure I was doing well. They genuinely care and are very professional and good at what they do. I felt taken care of. The only issue I had was receiving a transcript, as I had reached out too late. From my knowledge, AIFS is one of the few affiliated programs that doesn’t automatically require a transcript, as it’s a separate process, so definitely something to consider. Overall, I connected with a lot of the other students and the advisors were successful in creating a safe, transparent community. It definitely altered my perspective and it is a very important experience! They also garnered the internship directly to my interests, which turned out perfect.

I really enjoyed the courses I was enrolled in at AIFS London. I felt that the instructors and the program coordinators helped immerse us students in the city and the UK culture by taking us to different parts of the city in our classes and having planned trips to iconic locations throughout the UK. My transition into living in London for three months went as smoothly as it could have and I am very grateful to everyone who was understanding and helped make this a great and unforgettable experience for me and all of the other students enrolled in the program.

My internship experience through AIFS global experiences has been incredible. I found AIFS to be extremely supportive and informative. It would’ve been extremely difficult to find an internship abroad on my own. AIFS paired me with companies that aligned with both my academic studies and career goals. AIFS found me a place to live, set me up with health insurance, taught me how to use the transportation systems, taught me the cultural differences, and much more. AIFS also set up excursions around Australia the allowed us to bond with the other American interns in our cohort and enjoy different areas of Australia that we might have missed otherwise. It was different than study abroad because we gained unique work experiences that will better prepare us for the workforce. I would recommend this program to anyone in college, but especially to those who want to work internationally.

My experience was overall, amazing. I learned so much and am so thankful for the opportunity.
I felt like AIFS had so many opportunities to immerse yourself in the culture: with the day trips, cooking class, flamenco show, etc.
I also appreciate how they were always available and willing to help with anything. They were also very quick to answer emails.
My only critique would be that they did not have a lot of knowledge in regard to our classes, and I felt very unprepared during my first few days of class at UAB Idiomes. I was never told what class I would be in until 5 minutes before class was supposed to start, and I was not told if it was the class I requested, if it would transfer, etc.

I absolutely loved my time in Galway! It's an absolutely beautiful city, and everyone I met and worked with were so welcoming and lovely! I learned so much at my internship, and I really feel like I grew a lot as a person through this experience. Karen, my Galway advisor, was fantastic and willing to help to help with anything we needed, and all of the trips we went on were super fun! I truly believe I made lifelong friendships and connections, and I cannot recommend this experience enough.

My internship at Kommerz Records was absolutely a perfect fit for me, Nele was an amazing program advisor, Berlin is a wonderful city.

All the staff with AIFS are kind and welcoming and clearly go above and beyond to help in any way they can. I felt respected and taken care of during my time working with them and I hope our paths cross again soon.

Galway is a quaint city full of rich culture and incredible people. My specific internship included working with researchers at a local university (ATU). I met and worked with Gaelic football players in the local area to test reliability of an eye movement device. When we weren’t working, we were either exploring different areas, sitting at a local pub or building friendships with other interns on the program. There were many options when it came time to do other things than work; including trips which were set up by AIFS such as weekend trips to the Aran islands, Cliffs of Moher and a Corrib River cruise. Our location coordinator, Karen Lyons, was incredibly helpful and provided all the support we needed for a very successful summer internship. It was truly an incredible experience filled with laughing, dancing and forever long friendships.

The trip was one of my favorite since it was my first time coming to Europe by myself the staff was super accommodating and when I had a problem (not very often) they fixed it right away

It was absolutely the best experience I could ask for. Everywhere we stayed was beautiful! AIFs made sure that where we stayed was in the most PERFECt locations throughout the three cities we went to. The travel between countries was such a fun experience too! Getting to experience the Eurostar, and going on trains and planes with the group was such a fun time too I never minded the travel days! The tour manager and staff were all so very kind and helpful- our tour manager was the BEST. He was so helpful, funny, and always so welcoming- truly MADE the experience what it was. The people I met on the trip were amazing and having 3 weeks to bond with each other was great. Lifelong friendships were definitely made on this trip. I could not recommend going with AIFs more. I had the best time and would absolutely go again if I could.

I love all of the events that have been planned for us! They have been really fun and a great way to get out and explore more of Italy. Amanda and Antonella are super fun and I have loved getting to do these different activities with them. I wish I enjoyed my internship more but this has nothing to do with Amanda and Antonella but nonetheless they have been really helpful in trying to give all of us advice to make it better and advocate for ourselves. I wish whoever was in charge of placing intern and company together had tried to have a conversation with me to figure out what I wanted to do, somewhat get to know me to find the best placement. I also felt like I had little control over my internship because I was told that I could not say no if I was offered the job even if it was not exactly what I wanted (which is not what other students experienced so I am not sure why there was a difference). Nonetheless I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Italy, I just wish I enjoyed my internship.

When going to Lake Como. It had to be the best experience ever!! Amanda and Antonella made sure we had the best experience. It was about making sure you got the best view of the town. The boat ride was insane, the houses one could see were just mesmerizing. Truly a great experience.
