Access Storage To The Rescue

Access Storage to the rescue once again! I was moving items from my storage locker to my apartment and found myself in need of a piece of rope to secure my vehicle trunk and the contents within. Went inside the Access Storage offices in Barrie (Kaplan) to see if someone could help me out. Checked in with Riley to see if she might have some twine, rope etc. in her stock room. She came back with a couple of pieces of cord (wire) that might do the trick. Upon closer scrutiny, it was agreed that the wire might do some damage to the vehicle exterior.

Riley then said, "hang on a second, I may have something in my trunk that should do the trick". We walked out to Riley's car, she popped open the trunk and "voila", there was the perfect piece of rope.

In my eyes, Riley went and above and beyond her customer service obligations. She didn't need to go out of her way to help me out. As a result of Riley's actions, I was able to transport a vehicle full of household items on Highway 400 knowing that the load was secure. The rope rescue also saved me a second trip up and down the highway.

I am very grateful for Riley's efforts. She joins a long line of Access Storage Hall of Fame customer service specialists. Great service that will no doubt keep people coming back again and again.

Thank you Riley. You should be very proud of your efforts.

Rented a storage unit from Access…

Rented a storage unit from Access Storage today. Did everything for preparation via phone. Ron, from Orillia site was fabulous talking me through all the ins and outs, details and offers. He's amazing with his knowledge and his people skills are second to none. Thank you Ron, for making this easy.

Owner rude to customers

I’m renting 5ft x 10ft storage unit since September 2020. With the help of movers, when we first moved in, it’s jammed packed to the very top.
Today, I went in retrieve a few boxes. I parked at loading bay 3 which has the up/down platform since I have a car and not a van or truck.
Once I got in, I asked one of the workers I bumped into in the hallway if there is ladder I can borrow.
He says rudely “what do you need a ladder for?”
Me “because I’m 5ft tall and I can’t reach the boxes packed at the top”
Rude guy “why would you pack it to the top if you can’t reach it. Who put it up there in the first place?”
Me “the movers stacked the boxes. I guess they were taller than me”
I felt like he was interrogating me and he really didn’t want to help me or cared. I wasn’t impressed with his rudeness towards a customer.
He opens a maintenance room and shows me 20ft tall ladders and tells me “this is all I have. We don’t have any other ladders”.
I said “I was here once awhile back and I do remember borrowing a step ladder”
He says “oh really?” Then he opens another maintenance room and pulls out a 12ft ladder and tells me I can borrow this one since it’s the shortest on he has.
I lugged that tall ladder to my storage unit and it wasn’t very helpful. I tried to reach over and got a couple of boxes at the top but I felt like I was going to fall from reaching over and seriously hurt myself. It didn’t help me at all. See photo.
The lady at the front desk passed by me a couple of times and witness how much I was struggling. I told her the ladder is not helpful at all.
I lugged the huge ladder back downstairs, went to the front desk and asked if they had anything else I can borrow. I showed the photo of how useless the tall ladder was. I just need a step ladder. I recall borrowing one previously. The front desk lady lent me her “personal” step ladder. She said it doesn’t belong to Access Storage but she’ll let me borrow it. By this time, I was getting angrier and frustrated. I just wanted to sort through my boxes, get the ones I need and get out of there.
I bumped into the rude guy and he said “where did you get that step ladder?”
I said “the lady at the front desk”. I added “I’m going to file a complaint about you. You were so rude and not helpful at all”
He lost it! He says “I’m the owner! Go ahead and complain!” He grabs the step ladder from me and says “and you can’t use my ladder! Out of 5500 customers, no -one has ever asked to borrow a ladder! And by the way, move your car from the loading bay. Other cars need it to load/unload. You can’t just park there”
Now, I lost it. “I’m trying to load myself! What do you think I’m trying to do?! I’m a paying customer! I’m trying to get my boxes so I can load my car and leave. But I can’t and you just took the step ladder so I’m stuck. I’m definitely filling a complaint about you and your lack of customer service”
He says “I’m not bowing down to you because you are a customer. I’m the owner! I refuse to bow down to you”
What? I didn't ask him to bow to me. I'm just asking for a step ladder.
I headed to the front office to let the lady know what that the rude owner took the step ladder. I vented to her in front of a few customers in the office. The rude owner came in the office and handed me the step ladder and kept saying, in front of the other customers, “I’m not going to bow to you!”
Wow, I’m so shocked at how rude an owner of a business can be to a customer. Also, with a successful business as a storage unit company, the owner can’t buy and expense an $80 step ladder? Seriously?

Stellar Experience! A+

I dealt with Brandon B at the Meadowvale location. He was very friendly, welcoming/warm, knowledgeable and so much more. People like this make dealing with people a pleasure and bring business in-an asset!!.The services are very flexible as well. Excellent management

I've always had a great experience with the Access storage facility located in Stouffville, Ontario. The managers have excellent customer service and I can count on them being helpful whenever help is needed. Very trustworthy, and always polite.
Would recommend to anyone!

I am dealing with a fire disaster and the stress has been lifted due to a gentleman I dealt with on the phone from Montreal, I could not be more pleased with the kindness and support from this company in my dire needs. I was directed me to 2444 Shirley Dr in Kitchener, and again nothing but positive words for this company. The staff in the location are very…

The staff in the location are very reasonable and understanding however I just never thought they would have monkeys running head office I applied with a Costco promotion what came with three gift cards over time I've only gotten one they never got back to me about the 2nd or the 3rd I've made my payments on time and if I was late it was probably a day late or so I get three phone calls about an overdue payment that has been made a day later from ther billing date. luckily I kept proof of payment to prove to them that I've actually made a payment however for me it was the last straw access storage automated system computer BS whatever you want to call it is outrageous if they can't keep updates on payments people have made with hardworking money and rely on storages to keep their belongings what's the point in trusting accompany that would require you to make a payment again after making a payment it's ridiculous oh and Scott the regional manager won't do nothing. If you want to solve your problems with access storage go to another storage cuz I don't see why I should pay more when they're not owning up to their end of the bargain.

The experience started out alright, they answered the phone and promoted a reasonable rate. Unfortunately they were NOT clear about the rate .They also misled me with the payment.

Excellent customer service

Excellent customer service! My lock was jammed and the manager came down to my storage to cut open my lock even though it was a weekend. Would definitely recommend this place.

Late fees are very costly!

I have used the same storage unit since November 2017.  At that time another company owned the facility. The staff on-site are very good and have provided good customer service. Due to financial circumstances at times. I have been able to make a partial payment.  When Access Storage purchased the facility this is when their billing practices, became extremely costly! Many times I've been unable to make monthly payments on time. The fees are outrageous. On a few occasions my lock was cut and the unit was scheduled for auction!  

I ended up paying over $1,500.00, to keep my unit, avoiding my belongings from being auctioned off! 

Access Storage charges an additional fee which equals one months rent!  This practice should be illegal! I would never allow my belongings to be auctioned off! If future circumstances force me to break their lock, to obtain my belongings I would do it! !  
Your company has the nerve to ask existing customers, to refer friends and family for your services.  I for one would not refer to my worst enemy!

Excessive Rate Increase

I have rented outdoor storage at the Wasaga Beach site since December 2020. I was pleased with the way in which any questions and concerns were handled at the beginning of my relationship with the company. I am however not pleased currently as my fees have gone up from $71.20 in Dec2020 to $81.35 June 2021. In a matter of 7 months that is close to 13% increase!! I feel that is excessive considering that the cost of living in Ontario is at 2.2% but was told that was a directive of head office. I have yet to locate a phone number for head office and believe these stores are independently owned/managed. I may be wrong but would like clarification on that status and an explanation of the business practice for such an increase. Needless to say, I am dismayed and disgruntled by this practice.

Great Service, great people

I have stored my company vehicle at Access Storage on Fairview Street in Burlington over the past 15 years. The location is very convenient, very well kept as well as secure.
All of the staff have been friendly and always helpful. Particular kudos to Kristen as well as Eddie and Ron over the years.
