The rule here is the same as for any size: use a pad 1 inch larger than the cover for a firm, full result. A 16" pad in a 15" cover gives a structured, hotel-style finish. A 16" pad in a 16" cover gives a full but slightly softer result. For a 17" or 18" cover, size up to the 18x18" pad. The Virgin Conjugated Hollowfibre fill maintains loft in all four corners — the spiral crimp structure resists the tendency for fill to migrate toward the centre of the pad, which is the failure mode that makes corners look deflated. The Corovin non-woven outer holds that distribution consistent and won't fray or shed fibres into fine cover fabrics. For craft and sewing buyers working with handmade covers, that matters: no loose fill particles working through the cover fabric. At 16 inches square (approximately 40x40cm), this is used by upholsterers replacing tired inserts, craft and sewing businesses making handmade covers for retail, holiday let operators stocking smaller scatter cushions, and retail buyers needing a reliable insert at quantity. Care Instructions Spot clean with a damp cloth for surface marks. Air dry flat. Do not machine wash — the Corovin outer is not designed for machine agitation. For a machine-washable 16" option, the 16x16" cotton zip-cover pad has a removable cotton outer that washes separately. Why Buy The 16" size is where cheaper pads show their limitations most obviously: corners that don't fill, fill that migrates to the middle, an outer that sheds loose fibres into delicate cover fabrics. Virgin Conjugated Hollowfibre with a Corovin outer solves all three. We make these in Bolton and have been supplying to the trade for nearly 27 years — the spec doesn't change between orders, which matters when you're buying for multiple rooms or a client project. FAQs Will a 16" pad fill a 16" cover properly? Yes, for a medium-full result. For a firm, structured look — similar to hospitality styling — use a 16" pad in a 15" cover. The pad being 1 inch larger than the cover is the standard approach for a full, plump finish. Can I use a 16" pad in an 18" cover? You can, but the result will be soft and slightly flat — the pad won't reach the corners of the cover fully. For 18" covers, use the 18x18" pad. Is this the right size for craft cushion covers? Yes — it's the most common size for handmade and personalised cushion covers in the 16" range. The Corovin outer won't shed fibres through fine or loosely woven fabrics. Is there a machine-washable version? Yes. The 16x16" cotton zip-cover pad has a removable 100% cotton outer for machine washing. What's the difference between this and a standard hollow fibre 16" pad? Standard hollow fibre compresses flat and stays flat. Virgin Conjugated Hollowfibre has a spiral crimp that recovers under compression. At 16 inches the difference is less dramatic than at 22 or 24 inches, but it's still noticeable — particularly at the corners, which is where flat fibre fails first.
