Suffered it for years.
Absolute rip off parking, even bigger rip off drop fees. Q for passport control faster for non UK passports than uk passports and snake sequencing is utterly pointless and frustrating. Prices to and from Aberdeen are often a lot more expensive than other airports. Long stay car park or free drop off bus can take an eternity to arrive. Bags take forever to come on to the baggage belt. I’d maybe have given it 2 stars for the fact security is massively improved from previous years but having had to suffer it for so long and because of the parking and drop off fee’s it gets one star.
We landed late from Bristol Airport and…
We landed late from Bristol Airport and my wife was taken ill. We had help from the manageress and two of her colleagues who couldn’t do enough to help. They were so kind. Thank you so much for your kind assistance.
The Airport has improved beyond belief…
The Airport has improved beyond belief in all areas including the first rate infrastructure at security. Sadly security is let down by a minority of security staff who are surly, work at snails pace and awkward. My experience at 09.00 on 20/2/26 was awful. Nothing was wrong, the security area was quiet with staff outnumbering customers 7 to 1 and yet I was held waiting on various liquid tests for 20 minutes - made an otherwise great airport experience unpleasant.
I know security staff have a job to do but they could smile, be efficient and kind.
Aberdeen Airport review.
Very small airport, it was really easy to get around. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. Definitely coming back again.
Multiple late departures
Multiple late departures. Useless, expensive. Avoid in my opinion.
Slow and inefficient X.Ray process.
Very disappointed with airport security. I had paid for priority security as I have a hip replacement. Complete waste of money - I was put with everybody else so there was absolutely no priority at all. Then the X.Ray machine malfunctioned and we all stood for some time looking at a static belt. All of the trays were being directed to the inspection line and as it had backed up as they were not being inspected then tbe belt jammed and nothing was moving. The only security personnel present took some time to realise what was happening and one person just stood there looking at the static trays. Finally sonebody realised that the machibe was malfunctioning. We were then all directed to the other X.Ray and the security personnel had to manually lift all the trays from the malfunctioning X.Ray to the other line. The man who was scrutinising the monitor at the working X.Ray was painfully slow and every tray was stopped for some time while he scrutinised the monitor causing a further back up of trays. Very inefficient as opposed to other airports. Not impressed.
Take ages to check a passport

Security the same . staff need more training!
You think a small airport should be smoth .
This airport is just a joke
This airport is just a joke. The new system where you do not have to take anything out your bag ends up having to be manually checked. There are rows of bags waiting to be checked with 1 staff on shift checking them. This system started off good but is just a nightmare. Its back to how the airport has always been going through security. Lack of staff and professionalism. Poor operating system, time wasted waiting for bags to be checked!! Quick getting you through the security que, to wait at the other end.
Rip-off parking charges
Collect a friend from the last from Schiphol ETA 22:15, a 30mile drive from home.
Parked in the short stay carpark.
The plane was late.
I was charged £17 for less than 1hr car parking.
That's a very expensive car park, add to that there nowhere to sit down and wait.
I'd avoid Aberdeen Airport if I could but the next nearest airports are about 100miles away.
Airport should be there as a service to the community, not to rip them off.
If I could give them zero stars,I…
If I could give them zero stars,I would!
Arrived on Amsterdam flight at 22,10 - picked up our checked-in bag and went out for a taxi - we have been waiting here for longer than 45 minutes, queue of people waiting and the taxi controller could only say that - taxis will be coming but she can’t tell us when!!
So you cannot park at the airport because the prices are a joke - and when you arrive, there are no taxis or any other method of getting you home! Never seen this in any other international airport- get a grip.. you should know when flights are coming in … and leaving travellers of all ages stranded is not acceptable…
Appalling Experience at Aberdeen Airport – Never Again!
I’ve never felt so let down and mistreated by an airport in my life. Aberdeen Airport needs to be held accountable for the disgraceful way they treat passengers — especially those flying through Skyscanner. Two flights missed within two days, and two deeply upsetting experiences.
Day 1 – My Flight:
I arrived at the airport about 40 minutes before my flight, only to be told that I was “too late” and marked as a no-show. No empathy, no attempt to assist, no consideration. Just cold, robotic staff who clearly didn’t care that I was about to miss an important journey. The flight was still boarding, yet they had already washed their hands off me. Absolutely no flexibility or humanity shown.
Day 2 – My Mum’s Flight:
You’d think it couldn’t get worse, but it did. My elderly mother arrived at the airport almost 2 hours early for her 2:25 PM flight, and still missed it. What kind of incompetence is going on behind the scenes that even early arrivals can’t make it through? That’s not travel – that’s sabotage.
To make matters worse, she had a 23kg luggage allowance, and her bag weighed 24kg. Instead of offering a simple solution like redistributing items or even waiving a single kilo out of human decency, the staff pounced and demanded £30 for “excess weight”, claiming she was 4kg over! How?! Math suddenly doesn't work at Aberdeen Airport?
The staff were rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. There was no understanding, no compassion — just an eagerness to charge, blame, and walk away.
I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. If you’re flying out of Aberdeen, especially through Skyscanner, please think twice. This airport does not respect passengers’ time, money, or dignity
Zero stars if I could. Shameful.
ABZ airport is an absolute joke
ABZ airport is an absolute joke! Not enough stations for people to check in their luggage so took ages to get bags through (which seems to defeat the purpose of people checking in online as a time saver). You then get to security and it is even worse. I don’t know what this new system is of swabbing absolutely everyone’s cabin bags but it was a shambles and took almost 2.5 hours to get through just the check in and security meaning we had barely any time before our flight (just as well we arrived at the airport earlier than is advised otherwise we would have missed our flight. Their excuse for this was because two flights were leaving 15 minutes apart. If that is the case and they can’t handle two flights at once then they should be utterly embarrassed to call themselves an “International Airport”
Nice Little Airport
I have used Aberdeen Airport on a few occasions & found it to be a fairly nice place to be. Plenty of places to eat & drink, good seating areas and always clean & tidy.
My only gripe would be the cost of dropping somebody off. £5.50 is a bit much for a few seconds.
Beware Aberdeen Airport if you own a Rimowa case.
Beware Aberdeen Airport if you own a Rimowa suitcase. I cannot prove it, but I suspect a baggage handler hates anyone with a Rimowa case. Twice in the last eighteen months, I have had a case badly damaged, which passed through Aberdeen baggage handling. The damage could only have been caused by throwing or dropping from a height. The first just destroyed a wheel, which had to be replaced in Sydney. The second not only destroyed the wheel, but shattered the wheel unit and caused damage to locks, which had to be replaced in London. All hugely inconvenient, as well as expensive.
Annoying repetitive message
I have been at Aberdeen Airport for over 2hrs - deliberately arriving early so I could have a coffee and a chat with my family at the WH Smith coffee cafe before my 3 pm flight . It’s a venue I have used many times and it is perfect for our purposes . But not today . There was a continuous and I do mean continuous message for arriving passengers informing them to proceed ahead for baggage reclaim . Nowhere in this cafe seating area could you escape this annoying noise and after 45 minutes of the domineering and repetitive message - during which time there had been NO ARRIVALS - I decided to see if it could be switched off. I did so after another traveller expressed her frustration with me. I found the duty manager who helpfully explained that the message was continuous to meet the requirements of DFT. I fully understand the need to inform arriving passengers but surely the message doesn’t have to run when there isn’t an arrival flight in sight. The manager’s other suggestion was that I could sit elsewhere . True but that’s not what I wanted to do .
This experience totally ruined my time at the Airport today - my family left early one of them with a headache from the racket and I now have a two hour wait in the departure lounge.
Come on Aberdeen Airport - you can surely do better that this . It’s these little things that can make an airport experience so much better . Aberdeen has made so many improvements but unfortunately today’s experience is the one I will remember.
Incompetence at Aberdeen airport.
I live in Aberdeen so I use the airport frequently and generally it’s ok though feels a bit basic. However, yesterday on returning from a long trip we landed to find there was a power cut at the airport and they made us stay on the plane until it was fixed! Initially it seemed like it might take hours but turned out to be ‘only’ an hour. Apparently the airport has NO backup power to cope with this situation. And Border Force were completely useless, insisting we stay on the plane until they had a way of scanning our passports…..apparently human eyes are no longer adequate for this.
£50 for 17 minutes and Aberdeen airport
What a disgusting airport and Rip of fees my brother who has never been to Aberdeen airport offered to pick me up the usual fee is £4 for 15 minutes I a little late coming out my brother was parked there in total 17 minutes was charged £50 how can Aberdeen airport justify £50 for 17 minutes it’s outrageous private company’s are allowed to do this to travellers
Yet again luggage takes forever coming…
Yet again luggage takes forever coming off the plane. Always the same whenever we travel.
Drop off point charges are outright robbery!
Just left my wife at the drop off point. i was there less than 1 minute and then had to pay £5.50 to get out. This is disgusting, abhorrent greed and there is absolutely no justification to charge this amount.
Unfortunately they charge this because "they can".
It would be nice if the government enacted a law to clamp down on this type of extortion, but that ain't gonna happen. The more we pay for everything, the more tax the government collects. That's neoliberalism in action.
