Lack of compassion and explanation
I was represented by barrister Scott Sharp at a Family Law Act hearing on 23 December 2025.
This review reflects my personal experience. I found Mr Sharp’s manner to lack the compassion and empathy that I felt I needed during what was an extremely stressful and emotional hearing. I left feeling unsupported at a time when I was making decisions with significant consequences.
In my view, I did not receive the level of explanation or guidance that I had expected regarding the practical implications of accepting undertakings, and I came away feeling that I had not fully understood their long-term effect. Others may have had different experiences, but this was mine.
Court proceedings are inevitably difficult, and I appreciate that advocates have demanding roles. Nevertheless, the quality of communication and the manner in which clients are treated matter greatly. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not instruct Mr Sharp again.
