Mr. Church,
I want to clarify what was happening when you filed. Your return was submitted during the annual IRS e-file shutdown, which begins each year on December 26. Until the IRS reopens, they do not process returns or issue stamped Schedule 1s, so there isn’t anything available to print yet. This delay is set by the IRS as they prepare for income tax season.
We communicate this in several places:
1. Emails sent before the shutdown begins
2. Notices displayed when you log in
3. A reminder on the receipt page
When you contacted us, our team reviewed your account, followed up by phone during regular business hours, and identified a duplicate return. A refund was issued for that duplicate filing.
I’m sorry if the notices didn’t reach you as clearly as intended, and we appreciate the feedback. If questions ever come up, calling us is always the fastest way to get answers, but email works great too. That’s why my team is here Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time (excluding holidays).
