Goods picked up at service counter with no problem and the box was sealed.

Communicated very well about delivery of fridge freezer and workmen were very careful in ensuring new appliance would fit through doors and removed all packaging materials.

The whole process from start to finish was very easy. The staff member was very helpful and pleasant. He offered us various add ons and explained everything clearly.

I went into the Currys Dundee Kingsway store to buy a laptop for £1,249. I paid by card and the payment was authorised by my bank, but their card machine got stuck on “processing”.

Despite the money showing as taken from my account, I was told I couldn’t take the laptop and would just have to leave the store and wait to see what happened with the payment.

I completely understand that technical issues happen and that wasn’t really my issue. What annoyed me was how it was handled afterwards. I explained that I wasn’t comfortable walking out of the shop £1,249 down, with no laptop and nothing in writing to confirm what had happened. I asked if they could give me some sort of receipt or email confirming the failed transaction, which I thought was pretty reasonable.

The manager became increasingly stand-offish and was very little help. At one point I was vaguely told I could take it up with “Currys legal”, but wasn’t actually given any useful contact details or a proper way of escalating it.

The payment has now fully settled rather than being released back to me. So Currys have actually taken my £1,249 and I still don’t have the laptop.

At this point it genuinely feels like I’ve effectively been robbed of £1,249. They have my money and I have no laptop.

The most frustrating part is that I tried to explain to the store manager several times that this exact situation could happen. She basically dismissed what I was saying and insisted the money would be returned to my account. It hasn’t.

I also think it’s ridiculous that Currys apparently can’t provide a failed payment receipt in this situation, or even send a simple email confirming that the transaction failed at their end. Now that the payment has actually settled, my bank is asking me for exactly this kind of evidence so they can try to recover the money.

I’ve since tried contacting Currys to get this resolved and have struggled to get any meaningful response.

Really disappointing experience, particularly given the amount of money involved. I just want someone from Currys to actually take ownership of this and give me my money back.

I was approached by a member of staff who asked me if I was okay or could he help. He was very helpful and explained everything about the items that I was purchasing very clearly. He put everything through that I bought and ordered the one that was not in stock. I appreciate this kind of service as he wasnt pushing me to buy anything but was kind and considerate.
