Super service from BLACKS HOLBORN!
Super service from BLACKS HOLBORN.
Over two days, I needed to get kitted out for an upcoming trip in some pretty extreme conditions. Lee, a store assistant, also happened to also have a business as a MOUNTAINEER, he guides folk in difficult places. He gave me 2 hours of his time to expertly break down his recommendations for gear, why, price comparisons, things you want to spend a bit more on, differences in quality, everything. What a BEAUTIFUL bit of altruism.
I left, did some more research, came back the next day and GEORGINA, the store manager spent 2 hours with me helping me GRAB it all, talked me through the finer points of sizing, different store options, brand recommendations. Just brilliant.
I felt welcomed, there was a lovely humour, BOTH LEE and GEORGINA were as accomodating as it is humanly possible to be, and it was the easiest way to spend an EXTRAORDINARY amount of money (the final bill was like 835 GBP, I had no kit previously, I know, it's a little ridiculous).
Blacks, you need to find some way to reward/promote the excellence exhibited by both LEE and GEORGINA, they are a credit to your organisation, and you very much want these kinds of people representing you.
Shout out also to Karen and the other Blacks employees who helped out! It was a really great team environment!
For shoppers, BLACKS will price match other BLACK FRIDAY deals (not amazon or ebay), as well as having some pretty hefty discounts already on kit.
I will be returning when I have other things to grab for sure.

great customer service, amazing staff
I popped into Blacks @ Holborn just for the convenience of being on my way to the gym. Initially just wanted to check a pair of trainers for myself which i did know what to get and was pleasantly surprised when a bloke took all the dims of my feet and presented me with a perfect fit.... loved the precision and not to mention my current main choice for the day to day footwear.
Went back to get my dad a couple of pairs to be given as Christmas presie and what a blast I had with the staff and the manager ... meaning ... exceptional customer service and a good start for my Saturday morning shopping spree.
Certainly a regular from now on!!
PS; given I fulfill promises to my wife to walk more... although it's not my thing... I'm a beach lay under the burning sun type guy.

I went to look at a rucksack...I knew the online price....Yasmine and Hannah helped me...and as there was a 10% off bags that day ..they priced matched and I got the 10% off .so really happy I brought on the spot..thank you..

On-line are faultless not so in store!
On-line are faultless not so in store. Takes two weeks for a refund to be paid through in-store returns.
Staff should concentrate on one person at a time not three for this is why attention to detail fails them and complaints get raised.
Branch staff please remember you can only do one job at a time for which management will respect you for that.

Excellent service received by two young Ladies!!
Excellent service received by two young ladies there. Tasnim and Yasmin I believe to be their name. Helped me towards choosing my winter coat. Also received very quick and very happy with the purchase. Hope it lasts and keeps me warm. So thank you to those two ladies and thank you Blacks.

Helpful and patient young gentleman downstairs who helped me find the walking shoes I was looking for.

Staff should know gift cards can't be used online
I returned a pair of hiking boots to the London Holborn branch a couple of week ago and was a little taken aback when the guy serving me was interrupted by his colleague, informing him to report to the office downstairs. I don't recall his name but he was clearly knowledgable and doing a good job answering my questions and making recommendations. The same could not be said of the person who stepped in I'm afraid and I cannot fathom why the previous guy wasn't allowed to continue serving me and report to the office later. My experience only got worse from here I'm afraid.
So I selected a new pair of boots, but unfortunately my size wasn't in stock. No problem though as they would give me a gift card for the faulty boots I'd returned and could go home and order online. Later that evening I do just that, only to discover that the gift card wasn't accepted online. I called into customer services, who contacted the Holborn branch who informed us that yes, Blacks don't accept gift card online, but other brands such as Millets do. So I tried Millets, but again the gift card wasn't accepted. Turns out the gift cards can only be used at JB Sports, who don't sell hiking boots.
In the end I had to travel into a branch (not Holborn obvs) and order in store to be delivered home. I won't be returning to Blacks or Millets in a hurry after this experience.

Went into Blacks for the first time to…
Went into Blacks for the first time to have a browse. Walked out with 3 jumpers 2 coats and trousers. Henna and Maj were exceptional staff very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back.
