If you can avoid them then I would

If you can avoid them then I would. So many hidden charges and instead of a deposit they want you to pay nearly twice the rental cost to “not pay anything in the event of damage or scratches”. When you refuse, they threaten you with ridiculous costs for a small scratch if it were to happen. There are late pick-up fees to which are NOT mentioned when booking.

I have just been charged €234 for…

I have just been charged €234 for insurance for 12 days. This is more than my yearly insurance back home. RIP off company. Wish I read this before booking. Cant fault the service in the office she couldn't help but smile getting all that money off me to be fair. .

On the issue you described, please let us explain our clients have two options of coverage. Both appear clearly detailed during the booking process, in FAQ section of our website and in Terms and Conditions of the contract you accepted.

First of all, you can choose a basic rental. With this rate it is needed to leave a deposit that remains blocked in your credit card until the day you return the car. If, unfortunately, the car has any damage, amount of repair costs will be deducted from the excess fee initially blocked.

On the other hand you have our Super Cover + a security deposit from 150€

OK car rental/Amigoautos - Untrustworthy company

I have been to Spain more times than I can remember, usually I have gone with larger car rentals and up to now no problems. But immediately when collecting the car I got suspicious, they tried to give me a small 2 door although I rented a 5 door Nissan Micra or similar. I did get the Nissan after re-showing my rental voucher. Upon receipt that was after midnight I noticed that no dents or scratches where marked on the overview image used with the rental agreement. I found two scratches and dents immediately on the car. I pointed that out to the clerk and he marked those on the documents. I asked If they would do a full inspection and check out the car for more which by the way I had found already. He replied that we did not need to have worries about anything that did not exceed the width of the infocard attached to the car key. We took pictures of the car as he recommended and went our way. When returning the car the guy doing the inspection went straight to a spot under the front bumper and found some scratches also on the bumper at the back where there was a very hidden scratch right on where there is a sway on the bumper, which was barely noticable. Definetely something that he knew, I had pictures of that but he said that could not be seen on the photo, but we could.
Unfortunately I did not take pictures under the bumper at the front but I know those scratches did not happen during my rental. The car was barely used and never parked where this could happen.
For this my card was charged for 460 EUR, I am really angry especially at myself for using this rental company OK or Amigoautos. I wonder how many people have been charged for the same set of scrathes and dents. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!

This is a scam

I have hired a car in Alicante and arrived at the AmigoAutos office around 21:00. If you want to be served as the first customer you have to pay around €30,00. If you are being served after 22:00 they will charge you €50,00 and of course, you will know this only the same day (no mention on the website). Easy to see the scam. I waited 2 hours for my turn, we were only in 4 when I came in.

In addition, every car has some scratch or damage somewhere which is not included in the check-in document. All customers that day returned with photos and complaint asking to update the contract acknowledging the damaged parts.

Horrible experience. Stay away from them.

You feel ripped off

1- Terrible checkin experience in Ibiza. Took me 2 hours to get the car, waiting at the office...
2- The car they were going to give me was well bellow what I'd hired, but they changed it after I protested.
3- The car was great and new.
4- At return time, everything was OK, I checked the car with employee, he told me everything was OK and we signed the form.
5- A few days later, without any notice, €80 were charged to my credit card! I sent about 5 e-mails and waited for 4 weeks for no answer. I the decided to call and was told that I was charged for a special cleaning fee (!) of which I wasn't told about!!! And the car only had the normal dust you'd get in these Islands, there was no waste, garbage or dirtyness inside!

The Great Car Hire Ripoff

I travel to Menorca every month and I used Amigo, they certainly are no friend of mine, they are associated with OK car hire, collected the car and they said little damage on it and where there were marks there had marked them on the pre collection damage sheet, however when my son and I checked it out there were at least 12 dents and scratches they had not marked, now you could say they missed them but NO they don't they leave them there to catch you at the return stage of the rental period. I missed 1 mark under the bumper it was clearly historic, the employee accused me of damaging the car and told me he would take a further 200Euros from my card, I went bonkers don't be afraid to challenge them I told them I would see them in Court and also report the employee for disrespecting me which is a serious problem in Menorca for the accused, as yet I have not been charged but this is the scam they ALL follow, it really verges on fraud if I had the time I would have called the police because they are fraudulently taking money from your card.see which magazine this month re rip off Car Hire companies its says it all, always take photos of your car every panel and check inside for seat burns etc that will catch you at every turn if they can, its not this company they are all the same. They invent new reasons for extra charging all the time, last week went to Click Rent, the aircraft was delayed due to air traffic and the charged me extra 40 Euros for checking in 30 minute late, they pointed to a sign on the till, its just is amazing how they think of more and more scamming charges.

I will not be using again.

Just a quick update, the management posted a reply asking me to contact customer services directly, we which I did, surprise surprise nearly a month later and not even an acknowledgement.
So much for customer service.

I have previously given a 5* review on ok carhire and this time tried their "sister" business amigocarhire as it appeared I could save a few euro.
As you can see I have rated this as only 1*. The reason is no 1, the wait to collect the car and 2 also being told the booking I made through, do you Spain, which included a free second driver and GPS was not valid!!
Firstly the wait, and I know the reply will be exceptional circumstances, everyone came together, hang on you have a booking system generally, you know when people will arrive.
Also, you have to take a ticket on arrival to wait your turn, this seems a good idea, you can either take a normal ticket or pay €30 for speedy, (this negates any saving you might have made on the initial booking)
However, all the staff do not seem to follow the system, I (and others) watched as at least 2 parties "jump" the queue. We could clearly see their number was after ours, when asking why we are told "we do not want to discuss" well sorry I did!. Also I'm afraid if you don't pay for the speedy you will wait until nearly all speedy customers are seen and unfortunately ok customers can access speedy for only €18 and it's the same queue, which will push you back even further, I think people were waiting between 2-3 hours with a "normal" ticket, so be prepared. The trade off is it is a lower price for your car but after adding the €30 and other charges not budgeted for, it turned out not to be such a good deal.
With regard to my booking with do you Spain not being valid I will be contacting them, I have all the paperwork which clearly states amigo carhire terms and conditions, which included free second driver and inclusive of GPS but I'm just told "sorry they don't apply, everyone pays more at amigo! After much much much discussion the second driver was finally added, but the damage was done, my trust in your business had gone.
All in all a terrible experience I do not wish to repeat.
I will also confess to blaming the poor girl who was dealing with me and apologise for not being as polite as I should, I know she was only following orders, so this is to the management, improve your systems or expect more complaints and less repeat business.
Unfortunately, I think you'll just rely on new business and ignore genuine problems, it would be nice if you prove me wrong.
I'll keep an eye on the future reviews, as I book generally about 20 weeks car hire a year in Spain I'm always looking for a reliable and reputable business.

They evily use the fact that a lot of french people come here and most of the french people do not have a "credit" card and make you pay 133 euros (an insurance) to be able to pay the caution with a debit card, because they do not accept that you pay the full caution with debit cards. Of course it was said "no debit card" on a small phrase in the big terms doc, and I personally knew that in french we say "carte de credit" for debit cards because I travel a lot, but my friend, who made the reservation for us, didn't know that. Everywhere I rent a car I could always use my debit card to pay the caution, and it's the first time I find this kind of policy. With a reservation of 23 euros, we kind of felt trapped but slightly laughed like "Ok, we've been fooled" and kept nice, but the man dealing with us went angry, rude, and said that we disrespected him... What a sh***y way to start hollidays.... avoid them, as ok rental cars, it is the same company.
Also, are we suppose to be illuminated by god's grace to be able to find the shuffle service AND know it's okcars's bus that we need to take without ANY information ???

mi experiencia ha sido horrible, dia 10/05 paguè un coche de alquilerpara recoger dia 11 en aeropuerto de valencia, vino un chico con una furgoneta y nos llevo a un poligono bastante alejado, una vez alli la sorpresa fuè que como se realizo el pago con tarjeta de mi novia y yo no dispongo de tarjeta no me dieron el coche, cuando reservas no te avisan, una vez alli en las oficinas nos dieron un tlfno 902 y un correo electronico, despues de llamar 7 veces por fin una chica bastante antipatica y prepotente me dijo que la unica opcion era un bono, yo le dije que no necesito bono de alquiler.Despues de escribir unos cuantos correos nadie me ha contestado a los emails.Me siento estafado, nada bien atendido, y siento que me han robado en mis narices.NO RECOMIENDO que alquileis con amigoautos,son unos estafadores, ladrones.

A disgrace to Spanish Tourism - Valencia Airport

Do not rent from this company - I looked after the car perfectly and on returing the car they said there was a small scracth on the left wing...and wait for it 460 euros - I refused to pay as it must have been there previously as the chap walked straight up to it and pointed it out - They are a nasy bunch of con artists who rent cars for low prices and get their money using fraudulant methods - They are a total disgrace to Spanish tourism

First of all allow us to explain how our check out procedure works.

In order to pick up a car it is compulsory to block a deposit on a valid credit card or, as an alternative, purchase our Super Cover. Our staff will always inspect the car after each use and will mark the damages on the check-out sheet, however, we always ask customers to double check it before leaving our facilities. This way both parties are aware of the existing damages before departing.

On return, if our agents find damages that were not marked, they proceed to investigate and, if it's considered that they occurred during the rental period, the customer will be charged.

You explained fron an another post that you have a private insurance. Your private insurance in this case will cover the damage amount charged from the deposit you have left as a franchise.

We recommend you to use the following email address, customerservice@amigoautos.es and the Customer Service will provide you all the documents you need to manage the refund request to your private insurance.

Amigo cars / OK cars Alicante airport

Amigo cars / OK cars Alicante airport. When we collected the car the nice Spanish girl on reception desk gave us the keys and pointed to the car park where to collect the car. I asked if there was any damage because nothing was drawn on the car diagram on the paperwork. She said I needed to check myself. The cars were parked close together so i pulled it forward to see down the sides and my wife and looked over the car carefully and found 7 big and small scratches and bits of damaged to wheels. I made notes on the paperwork went back into the office and waited to see the same girl. She took a copy of the paperwork and didn't want to check the car.
When we returned the car the man came to check over it, he seemed unhappy and unfriendly. I was confident that no new damaged had happened while we had the car because we only drove it to our holiday home and back to the airport on the motorway. The man started to look under the front of the car and found a damage scrape in front of the passenger wheel. He pointed it out to us I got on the floor and could then clearly see it. He then insisted that we had caused the damaged because he said he could see the damage when stood up from a distance, I could not see it because I was taller than him. I tried to explain that no damaged was recorded at all when we collected the car and we found 7 damages. He then said it was my fault because we hadn't checked the car properly because we had not looked underneath carefully. I refused to admit the damaged he then became aggressive raising his voice. I explained that if I had done it I would admit it because I have extra insurance to cover the excess but I hadn't done it. Looking more closely at the damaged on my hands and knees you could see it was old damaged not new. He eventually let us off with a telling off and told me to check the car properly in future. But they won't be a future rental from this company unless they change their policy. They should check the car for damage first and mark it on the paperwork like other companies. I have hired hundreds of cars from lots of different companies and never had any problems or rude staff before. I believe they are doing this to catch people out, it was a nasty end to a otherwise pleasant holiday!

I wish I had seen the reviews first..

I wish I had seen the reviews first... Even seven months after my holiday to Spain, this company are still throwing more hidden costs at me. DO NOT USE THEM. You will arrive at the car collection point to be told about lots of different hidden charges which rack up the cost to almost triple what you were paying originally. Another group we were on holiday with had really long delays in getting their car, and it seems it's quite normal for people to have to wait at least an hour. A woman who was there at the same time as us, was given an entirely different car to the one she had ordered which didn't suit her needs and they were so rude to her.

Customer service told me i can drop off…

Customer service told me i can drop off the car in Murcia just book in the car online and they change it later i said: okay.(big mistake!) after i booked in call the customer service and they told me no drop off service in Murcia. Okay no problem can i refund? No refund!!!!! lost £120 (they recording the phonecalls but my one missing :D

AVOID! Total scam. Had no idea affiliated with OK cars (whole other forum on them). Rented car in Mallorca on 22nd August for 10 days.
Found booking online really easy but when you arrive at the airport there are no clear instructions for where to get the shuttle bus to the hire centre. After 45 minutes trapping around we finally found It, only to arrive at the hire centre to chaotic queues.
We had to wait a good 90 minutes with tired children and when we did get the car, it wasn't the car we had booked. It had lots of scuffs and damage and we photographed each bit and recorded this on the documentation. HOWEVER.....upon returning the car, despite producing the previous photos and documentation of prior damage, we were told we would have to pay 300 euros for a mark on the tyre that was already there!! Absolutely no customer service or willingness to listen to us and just plain rude and dismissive. Faced with missing our flight, we had to pay to be able to leave! Have never ever experienced such an awful company.
Advice.....avoid like the plague!

Borderline Criminal Practice

Amigo Autos - Mallorca, Palma Airport.

Hopefully this honest review will dissuade people from using this company and they'll be at a loss like I am through using Amigo Autos.

Upon collection of the vehicle I asked why the invoice amount was nearly double, a female receptionist with poor communication skills explained I would receive back a deposit upon return of the car.

The actual reason for the increase was that extra products were added to the invoice (written in Spanish) and not discussed with myself at any stage.

Road side assistance and super cover were added to the invoice without my knowledge therefore increasing my bill to over 100% of my initial voucher.

I have used hire cars all over the world and this is the first time I strayed from using a reputable company, big mistake! There's a reason why the more established company's are more expensive and its certainly worth paying.

Please THINK twice before booking with this company.

Booking Cancelled

On 6 February 2018 I booked a car for my holiday in June and paid the rental charge in full.
At the beginning of March I received an email from Amigo Autos informing me that the hire company had changed and the pick up would now be offsite and not at the Airport as I had booked. I reluctantly accepted this on this occasion.
A few days later I received another mail informing me that my car hire had been cancelled!
I have now been online and booked another car with a different company. I received a refund from Amigo Autos but NOT until 16 March.
I will not be using this company to hire a car again.

In your case we had to cancel your reservation due to situations outside our control. We'd like to point out that this is a very unusual situation and that we did everything in our hands to try and amend the booking as alternative to cancelling it. Nonetheless, we made sure you had enough time to re-book.

AutoAmigos canceled reservation on the day of arrival

We (my friend and I) made a booking using the autoamigos website, it got confirmed. On the day of arrival, 4 hours before we were supposed to pick up the car we got an email informing us that the reservation had been canceled, without providing any reasons. The workers in the office of OKRentACar were not aware that the cancelation had been made by AutoAmigos and not by the us, the costumers. The car had already been prepared by their team and was ready for us. The only option left was for us to pay 120€ for the exact same car we had booked for 30€ online. This is theft.

One of our biggest challenges is to find the best suppliers with the best offers and conditions. That's why we are in a constant search for new offers.

Unfortunately, in very rare occasions, implementing changes may affect some bookings. Usually this doesn't happen in the last moment and we have time to amend the reservation and offer another one for the same price.

We are really sorry this had happened and we can only ask you to try our services again (we can arrange a discount) so that you could see that this was an isolated case.
