Buyer Beware! Chinese import, not UK stock. Don't get caught out!
Hangsun UK Limited / Hangsun Technology Limited is just a front for a business operated from Hong Kong. The company holds itself out as a UK company and offers 'free shipping' on its orders, however, the item I purchased was not UK/EU standard stock and was shipped to me unwittingly from China! The first I became aware of this was when I was contacted by DHL regarding an unpaid invoice for Customs Duty & VAT which I refused to pay.
By appointing the customer as importer of record, the company avoids having to pay the appropriate rate of Customs Duty & VAT and account for UK VAT on it's sale. However, you as the customer, become responsible for the content of the package and any liabilities which arise.
Both UK contact numbers for the company ring out continuously, and the mailbox is always full so you cant leave a voice message. The e-mail support is 2 guys in Hong Kong who contact you in broken English when they feel like it, unless they don't like what you are saying, in which case you get ignored.
Due to several failed attempts to obtain a refund from these individuals, I have had to pursue legal action in order to obtain a refund. Don't let yourself fall into the same trap!
For anyone who has purchased from Hangsun Technology Limited, please also note that they have now filed an application with the registrar of companies to have the company struck off on the basis that it is not trading in the UK. If you have purchased any items from this company, I suggest you contact companies house advising them of your purchase and object to the company being struck off, in order to protect any rights of recompense you may have should your item turn out to be faulty and not covered by Sony's UK warranty.
Great Service
Ordered my camera on Thursday evening. The order sat at "awaiting fulfilment" until Sunday so I sent an email asking for an update. Received a swift reply saying it was dispatching that day and it's in my hands by 8.30am on Monday. Delighted!

Best price and fast delivery
This is the first time I bought something from Hangsun (Sony RX100M2), so I didn't know what to expect. The order was dispatched very quickly and I was given a tracking number, which sadly didn't work. However, I received prompt replies to all my emails and the camera arrived within 2 days (ordered 30/06/14 late evening, received 3/07/14 early morning).
I would definitely order from the again. I gave 4 stars because the tracking number didn't work, otherwise it would have been 5.

Not impressed
I am giving hangsun a 3, instead of a 2, purely because of the support's quality (once I managed to get hold of them...)
I placed an order for a camera that appeared in stock on Sunday - the item was marked for free shipping, and for being dispatched in 24 hours. Based on the rest of the reviews on this site, I expected a speedy deliver as I needed the item by Thursday the latest.
I tried contacting Hangsung on Monday to get an ETA for delivery:
Tried the site's email - no response.
Tried the site's email form - no response.
Tried the phone number on the normal site - no response.
Tried throughout the day till night, no response. And no update on my order. I received an email at 7 AM this morning in broken English, apologising for a delay of 2 extra days to process my order due to low stock. I responded straight away, asking for an ETA - no response.
I woke up and, luckily, checked their site on my smartphone. On the mobile version of their website they had an 0800 number instead of a 0201 they had on the normal site. Giving it a couple of goes I managed to get someone on the phone.
This is where the pleasant side of things started - the individual who answered my call was most helpful, helped me cancel my order and refunded me in less than an hour.
So pros:
- Eagerness to help once you get proper hold of them. Support was very helpful and it put a smile on my face.
- Good prices; better than high street by a long shot. Haven't personally received an item from them, since I refunded, but if the rest of the reviews are to be trusted, then their prices are good and so is their 2 year warranty scheme.
cons:
- Inaccurate stock/shipping information
- VERY hard to get hold of them; they will not respond to emails or messages within 24 hours, and calling the standard web site version phone number gives no response.
- Company is not UK based. I am pretty sure the email reached me from Honk Kong or somesuch, but that is to be expected for the price of the item. I am not sure.
Bottom line - i am sure they do deliver, eventually, and the support is very good if you get hold of them.
If it comes down to you needing to support them - call the mobile version 0800 number !
